RIP Doug G.

What happened today has affected so many people, and I can't even begin to describe how I'm feeling.

I need a break.

*edit*

One of my kids at Meno said it best:

You're riding home after an awesome performance at State Marching Band, having a great time with the friends that have become your family. Suddenly you hear screeching tires, then shattering glass, then screams. Then nothing.

You fade back in. You hear the chopper blades whirring overhead, bright lights flashing everywhere. You want to cry, but the pain is too damn much so you can't. You just fade back to blackness.

You're in the hospital. You hear people around you, talking about what happened. You catch bits of "We lost Plank" and "The doctors said Karkula didn't feel a thing, that's better for him I suppose".

You and your friends don't know if you'll ever walk again. You don't even know if you'll make it through the next few hours. You don't know what dying feels like, but you can guess.

It really is sobering what has happened today.  Doug and Plank were the two who got the shows going here in the fall.  Doug and Sandy made winter guard a pleasure.  Doug and the Chi-Hi kids were the classiest group around.  And now, we lost him.
